A studio for rent, in the old days, was a small, one room residence, usually found above another business, usually resided in by some artist or some Bohemian looking for a groovy crash pad.
Times they are a’changin’, my friends.

What is a studio?
Today a studio for rent, in the commercial real estate world, refers to a small, functional space with multiple uses. A studio is an artist or worker’s workroom. This can be for the purpose of acting, architecture, painting, pottery (ceramics), sculpture, oragami, woodworking, scrap-booking, photography, graphic design, filmmaking, animation, industrial design, radio or production broadcasting or the making of music. The term is also used for the workroom of dancers, often specified to dance studio. But, in truth, in today’s ever-changing world, a studio is simply a small space which can be used for practically any purpose you so choose.
The design of a studio has not changed much over the years. It is a self-contained room, often under five-hundred square feet in size. If separate spaces are needed, they are gained by the use of partitions or screens. For a small business, a one-room studio could become an office plus a retail lease space, or an office, retail space, and workroom, all separated by a temporary wall or partition.
The advantages of a studio are low cost and flexibility of design. A studio can literally be anything you want it to be. If you have a vision, that vision can be attained by renting a studio for rent.
What does a studio for rent usually cost?
Leasing costs are impossible to nail down. They are subject to the Laws of Supply and Demand, and as such are tied into the current real estate market, the location of the studio, and the square footage of the studio.
A studio may cost $1000 per month. In another city, or in a highly-popular area, a studio may cost $2000 per month. We have seen studios in Los Angeles going for $4000 per month.
